A Green New Deal for Homes + Carbon Co-op AGM

With an increasing acknowledgement of the climate emergency, a Green New Deal for the UK has been proposed, but what does a Green New Deal in the UK mean for existing homes?

Can it kickstart the large scale retrofit of private and social housing stock, how can we ensure all sections of society benefit from the energy transition and how do we avoid repeating the energy efficiency scandals seen at Grenfell Tower and in Preston.

Three expert speakers explore this theme, followed by a discussion.

Rowan Mataram, Platform

An education and economic justice campaigner, Rowan has worked at Rethinking Economics and is now at Platform project managing the mPower project supporting progressive municipal energy projects around the Europe.

Tom Woolley, environmental architect

Tom was Professor of Architecture at Queens University Belfast and is Visiting Professor of Architecture at the Centre for Alternative Technology Graduate School. He was authored many books on natural building materials and techniques and he has spoken on the toxicity of materials used in the Grenfell Tower and their effects on the local environment after the fire.
