Activism in a New Climate—Nature of Prosperity Dialogue (hosted by CUSP)
Appeals for people to act now in response to the climate emergency surround us. Many of them focus on the responsibility of the individual to act: to eat less meat, to drive less, to fly less. Does this focus on the role of individuals underestimate the challenge of sustainable consumption?
Is there a danger that appeals to the individual ignore social inequality and shift responsibility for action away from Government and industry. How else can people act? What does it mean to act as an environmental citizen and what kinds of opportunities are there for effective collective action?
Activism in a new climate is the sixth in a series of dialogues on the Nature of Prosperity to be held in Manchester (Bridge 5 Mill) on 29 April. Details will be confirmed shortly, but please do hold this date in your diary.
