Be Well Wigan – Famous Sights Of Wigan – 12 Mile Bike Ride
Lovely scenic route that is mainly off road or on quiet country lanes. You will pass some of Wigan’s famous landmarks which starts with the famous DW Stadium – home to Wigan Athletic Football Club and Wigan Rugby League Club. You then move on to pass through the Wigan Pier Quarter, made famous by George Orwell / and George Formby.
Next you will go uphill passing one of Britain’s largest set of locks – 21 of them in total. You will head into the grounds of Haigh Hall a large Country Park and Hall, left to the residents of Wigan by Lord Crawford for the enjoyment of all.
We will stop for lunch at the Kitchen Courtyard where there are plenty of options for refreshments from either Alexander’s Coffee Shop, All You Knead, Luisco Chocolate, Holdens Ice Cream, Two Left Feet and Graze in the Park.
All participants on Be Well rides are required to register their details. This can be done online prior to attending a Be Well ride https://forms.wigan.gov.uk/xfp/form/164 , if you have previously completed a participant form there is no need to do another.
