Big Tree Planting (hosted by The Chat Moss Project)
We will be planting out a variety of tree species to make the habitat more suitable for the endangered Willow tit. They like it dark, dank and generally and bit messy so we add some lovely under-storey species for them.
Planting trees is a great way to get outdoors and have a positive effect on your local environment. Why not come down for an hour or so and enjoy some quality time on your local mossland.
We can provide spades but if you have your own it would be great if you can bring it along with you. The trees you will be planting are a mixture native to the UK provided to us by Manchester City of Trees as part of their ‘Tree for a Tree’ scheme.
Footwear
Wellies or sturdy boots would be ideal footwear due to the uneven and sometimes boggy ground. Great British weather being what it is, no harm in bringing some waterproofs as well.
Facilities
There is currently a portaloo on site.
