Agenda
1 Introductions Chair

2 Presentation: Research at TfGM Ann Clarke (TfGM)
Following from our February workshop on Active Neighbourhoods, we will hear from Transport for Greater Manchester on two research projects they have completed on key aspects:

Stockport Parklet Pilot Evaluation

In 2019 TfGM and Stockport Council installed the first Bee Network parklet and pocket park in Greater Manchester. Parklets and pocket parks convert existing street space for other uses (such as relaxing, socialising or parking a bike). To understand the effect of the parklet and pocket park on Bridgefield Street in Stockport, we interviewed local businesses and people on the street and asked
them about their perceptions and use of the street.

Greater Manchester Local High Streets Research
In 2019 TfGM undertook research with businesses and the public on two local high streets in Greater Manchester, to understand how people travel to the high street currently, their current perceptions of the streets and what they would like to see improved.
Ann will also talk briefly about current research into neighbourhoods.

3 Questions and Discussion
All ideas welcome, especially in relation to our existing and developing MCF Bee Network proposals.

4 Temporary and Experimental Street Changes Grahame Cooper
Cities and towns around the world are beginning to make temporary changes to their roads and streets to facilitate active travel with social (physical) distancing. We will briefly look at some examples and consider the possibilities for such initiatives in Bolton Borough.

5 Close Chair

Notes on the “venue”
It is no surprise in the current circumstances that we will not be able to hold a physical, face-to-face meeting. For this workshop, we will be making use of the Zoom video conferencing system.

Participants will need to install zoom on a computer or mobile device if it is not already installed. I installed Zoom on my mobile devices from the usual App store (Android play store, but I’m sure it’s in iPhone as well). I also got it for my computer from this address:
https://zoom.us/download

Setup was straightforward on my Ubuntu Linux computer and should be at least as
easy on Windows and Apple Mac.
Once installed, you will need to register an account, which is a relatively simple process.
If you intend to join the workshop, choose the join option in Zoom, then join the meeting with the following credentials:
Meeting ID: 912 3794 6929
Password: 138487

Please try to join a few minutes early, and please also could you join intially with the microphone muted.b

PLEASE NOTE: This event is listed in our cycling events calendar for Greater Manchester. It is not organised by Manchester Friends of the Earth nor the Love Your Bike campaign and does not necessarily reflect their policies. We recommend checking with the organisers in case of a change of time or location.
