Campaigning together for Metro Mayor action on climate
Find out about the role and powers of Metro Mayors (and the Mayor of London) and explore how we can influence them.
Metro Mayors and Combined Authorities have powers over sectors that are key to tackling the climate emergency including transport, housing, strategic planning and local industrial strategies. They can also act as key influencers within their own political parties, with the power to inspire others to prioritise climate action. They are leading the charge in demanding a green and fair recovery from central government.
Seven areas in England will elect new Metro Mayors in May 2021 (Cambridge and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West of England, West Midlands and West Yorkshire). Elections for the London Mayor will take place on the same date.
This webinar will outline the role and powers of Metro Mayors (and the Mayor of London) and explore how we can influence them to take ambitious action on climate through local campaigning and alliance building.
