‘Can we create a fairer and more sustainable economy using the Central Bank?’ (Post-Crash Economics Society Manchester)

This is the question we’re asking Dr. Juan Castaneda, Director of the Institute for International Monetary Research, and Simon Youel, Media and Policy Officer at Positive Money.

Get in on a dissection of the inner-workings of our banking system with two speakers from very different perspectives.

Dr. Juan Castañeda has had a long career working and researching in monetary policy and central banking. Among many other bodies, he’s worked with the European Parliament’s Committee of Economic and Monetary Affairs in so-called “monetary dialogue with the European Central Bank”. Juan Castañeda was appointed as Director of the Institute of International Monetary Research in January 2016.

Simon Youel, as Policy & Media Officer for Positive Money, has advocated for monetary reform in the pages of mainstream publications, such as the Financial Times, The Guardian and the Independent. Positive Money campaigns for a money and banking system which supports a fair, democratic and sustainable economy. It was set up in the aftermath of the financial crisis.
