Chorlton Repair Cafe

Chorlton Repair Cafe is back! That’s right, after a three-year hiatus, Manchester’s first ever repair cafe (originally set up in 2016) is making a triumphant return, thanks to funding from In Our Nature Manchester.

A Repair Café is a free meeting place where people get together to repair things. The first Repair Café was held in Amsterdam in 2009, and since then, have grown into a global network of menders.
Chorlton Repair Cafe is a free to use, drop in community event, run by volunteers and open to all.

Visitors can attend our Repair Cafe every month to learn from expert volunteers the skills to fix broken clothes, furniture, electronics, bikes, and technology.

Chorlton Repair Cafe happens on the third Saturday of almost* every month, 10am-12pm.

Just turn up on the day with your broken item. The last repair will be booked in at 11:40am.

*Always check before you travel, as we usually have a break in December and some other events may be rearranged depending on our volunteers’ availability.

While volunteers are skilled in various repairs, they don’t offer a guarantee that your item can be fixed, nor will they single-handedly do the work for you! The Repair Café is all about getting people fixing things together – equally focused on sharing skills and meeting new people. You’re encouraged to stick around for a cup of tea and to chip in with advice and ideas for other visitors’ repairs.

We have a fab team of volunteers and we’re always looking for more friendly faces to join. if you fancy helping your neighbours fix their broken stuff and keep it out of landfill, get in touch! We need event hosts and organisers too, so whether you can fix things or not, we’d love to hear from you.
