Eliot Coleman at Glebelands
Eliot Coleman has over 50 years experience in all aspects of organic farming, including field vegetables, greenhouse vegetables, rotational grazing of cattle and sheep, and range poultry. He is one of the most respected organic growers in the world and he has written widely on many aspects and also runs a commercial market garden in Harborside, Maine. Eliot is in the UK to promote the 30th anniversary edition of his seminal book, The New Organic Grower, which has been updated to reflect the changes over the last 30 years.
Eliot will give a talk that will cover those changes, reflect on the latest developments in the United States, and look forward to future progress. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion during the morning session, and there will also be an introduction to Glebeland City Growers, their history, current activities and future plans.
The event will be based at the Metrovick Rugby Club for the talk, lunch and refreshments and an organic/fair trade lunch will be provided. In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to join Eliot and his wife Barbara Damrosch on a short walk around the adjacent Glebelands site that will focus on the protected cropping given the time of year.
