During this training we’ll explore meeting facilitation as a powerful tool to build thriving, effective and resilient groups ready to take on the fight against mass extinction. Good facilitation helps make your meetings dynamic, inclusive and efficient. This workshop offers opportunities to practice and develop skills, reflect on your current meeting culture, and link up with other people involved in ER.

The training will cover:
-What it means to be a facilitator
-Building safe and empowering spaces, where everyone can contribute
-Understanding the process a group moves through when making decisions
-Key facilitation skills: active listening, summarising, feedback
-Facilitation techniques and how to use them
-What to do when a meeting gets stuck

About the trainer: Rhiannon Westphal

I first got involved in campaigning in the late 1980s – joining the non-violent movement that led to the overturn of the Stalinist regime in East Germany. The power of collective action I experienced then has inspired my ongoing involvement in campaigning and movement building: against road building and genetically engineered crops in the 1990s, to fighting against coal mining and fracking more recently.

I believe in sharing skills across movements and for the past 18 years, I’ve been involved in the Seeds for Change collective, running trainings and creating guides on effective organising, facilitation, collaborative, decision-making, strategy and action skills.
