FoodCycle Manchester are looking for keen cyclists to help with their food collections

Love cycling? Hate food waste? Then come and help us collect surplus food on Wednesday mornings!

We are a group of volunteers who collect surplus food from supermarkets and independent retailers and cook an amazing 3 course meals for those in need.

Every Wednesday, rain or shine, we meet at 7.45 am at the back of Morisson’s in Chorlton. We then cycle along the beautiful Fallowfield loop to Sainsbury in Fallowfield. Then one of us goes further along the loop to Trove, an amazing bakery who donate us some of the best soughdough in town! We reconvene at the Roby church (307 Dickenson road) via quiet lanes, where we drop off the food by about 9am and cycle on to meet the rest of our day with a smile. The food is then cooked by our team of volunteers into an unbelievably tasty 3 course meal in the evening.

We are a small team – 5 people or so, but most of us have been doing the pick-ups for years, as we enjoy the serene morning cycle, and a sense of actually making a difference – just come to one of the evenings and see the result of your labour!

Please send us a message or email manchester@foodcycle.org.uk. If you have the passion, we can easily iron out any technical issues.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is listed in our cycling events calendar for Greater Manchester. It is not organised by Manchester Friends of the Earth nor the Love Your Bike campaign and does not necessarily reflect their policies. We recommend checking with the organisers in case of a change of time or location.
