Forever Green – a charity concert for Manchester Friends of the Earth featuring the Juna Quartet and Eva Jones @ Manchester Cathedral

A charity concert for Manchester Friends of the Earth featuring the Juna Quartet and Eva Jones. Kindly supported by the RNCM’s ‘Green Fund’.

Come along to Manchester Cathedral for a charity concert reflecting on climate change. The Juna Quartet, a prize-winning string group studying at the RNCM, will perform a programme centred around Caroline Shaw’s ‘The Evergreen’, a piece written in admiration for an old tree.

Music written by ensemble’s violist, Estelle Gonzalez, and cellist, Elena Edwards, will feature in the concert along with Beethoven’s first string quartet. For some of these pieces they will be joined by singer Eva Jones.

Manchester Friends of The Earth have kindly partnered with the musicians on this project and they will have a stall at the event. The audience will hear from the charity about some of the work they are doing and will be invited to make a donation if they are able.

This concert aims to give people space to process their feelings about the climate emergency, as well as encouraging action and awareness. The audience is warmly welcomed to share their thoughts either in conversation or anonymously on a communal notice board.
