Frack Free Greater Manchester campaign meeting

Our next meeting is 7.15pm, Tuesday 3rd September at Green Fish Resource Centre,  Oldham Street, manchester, M4 1LE. Please come along if you can to help us plan.

Actions to be planned include:

Tour of Britain – INEOS protest: One of the largest companies involved in fracking in the UK, Ineos, (also one of the world’s leading Chemical companies) have taken over the ownership of what was Team Sky the UK based cycling team. The Ineos team have faced protests in the UK and Europe as a result of this association of cycling with an industry so deeply implicated in fracking and of course the plastics industry.

On Saturday 14th September 2019 Team Ineos are coming to Manchester as part of Stage 8 of the Tour of Britain. Together with Frack Free United, Break Free from Plastic Europe (BFPE) and Food & Water Europe, Frack Free Greater Manchester are calling for a peaceful protest against Ineos in Manchester on that day. Details are being finalised between the 4 organisations and will be discussed at the FFGM meeting.

Youth Climate Strike: On 20th September the UK Student Climate Network and Youth Strike 4 Climate are calling on everyone – to join them in a global general climate strike. They will be joining people all around the world in what’s set to be a massive day of climate action and are hoping this will be the largest climate mobilisation Manchester has yet seen. This is a chance to deliver a clear message for climate justice just 3 days before the UN emergency climate summit on 23rd September.  More details of the Manchester action can be found on the Facebook event page

A leading Manchester activist was one of 5 Extinction Rebellion protestors who appeared in Court as a result of their chalk spraying protest at the DEFRA building in London in last November’s first wave of XR actions. Court costs and compensation orders of nearly £3000 have been imposed. A crowd funding site has been set up to help them meet these costs.  If you can help even with a few bob please visit this page.
