How is Drax’s wood burning impacting on forests and communities in SE USA?
Campaigners from the southeastern USA will share evidence about the impacts of Drax’s pellet sourcing on forests & people in the region.
Drax power station burns more wood than any other plant in the world, and 65% of that wood comes from the Southeastern USA. We will be hearing from campaigners who have been witnessing the impacts on their region’s forests for the past six years, sharing pictures from on-the-ground investigations following logging trucks from the forest to Enviva pellet mills that supply pellets burned by Drax. We will also hear about the effects which those pellets mills have on local communities.
After the presentations, there will be time for questions and for sharing ideas about what can be done to stop Drax Plc from continuing to devastate forests and attracting large public subsidies in the proces.
Presentations by Rita Frost, Dogwood Alliance and Sasha Stashwick, Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC).
Call-in details will be shared with everybody who has a free ticket before the event.
