Jewels of the National Trust (Guided Ride)

This is a lovely ride which allows you to enjoy two of the best National Trust properties in the area.

We’ll ride along very quiet country lanes and pass through the villages of Little Bollington and Rostherne. In Tatton Park we’ll explore some of the lesser known paths to enjoy views of the surrounding countryside. We’ll then return to the main car park at Dunham by the same route or similar quiet lanes for a bit of variety which might add a mile or two at most to the route.

We’ll stop half way to sample the breakfast menu at the Gardener’s Cottage (scrumptious teacakes or muffins with bacon/egg), see this link: http://www.tattonpark.org.uk/pdf/gardeners-cottage-low-season-2019web.pdf.

Bring an inner tube and pump with some money for brunch!

Places are limited so please book online.

Starting from – The meeting point is the cobbled area just beyond the clock tower near the main hall at Dunham Massey. The starting time has been chosen for those who need to drive so you should not need to pay for the car park as they don’t man the pay barriers until after 9. The main visitor centre will be closed hence the need to wheel bikes (as there is no adult riding in the park) to the main hall (only 100 yds or so from the car park) where the toilets should be open. You could always come early and go for a stroll in Dunham Park which is really quiet at that time. The main car park gates are usually opened just after 7.30 but even if they are closed you can park in the nearby village of Dunham and cycle into the main car park via the gate at the side of the main entrance. Obviously Dunham is also very accessible for cycling – for example along the Bridgewater way which allows you to cycle from the centre of Manchester to Dunham virtually all off road. WA14 4SJ
