Join the Manchester FoE volunteer session at Fareshare Greater Manchester
Over 5.8 million people in the UK live in deep poverty meaning they lack access to healthy affordable food. At the same time the UK throws away 3.9 million tonnes of good food is sent for disposal by the food industry every year.
Greater Manchester Fareshare distribute food to over 200 charities and community organisations – our Community Food Members – and new organisations are joining all the time. Our community food members provide vitally-needed meals, food parcels and snacks to hundreds of disadvantaged people every day.
Join Manchester Friends of the Earth volunteers on Saturday 2nd February (12 noon – 3pm) to help unpack and sort fruit, vegetables and other food stuffs.
Lunch is usually provided from the food that is currently in stock. (Vegan options cannot be guaranteed – so best bring your lunch).
Dress warm and bring gloves for carrying stuff and opening boxes etc.
Steel-capped boots are provided – but please contact Ali (details below) beforehand to provide your shoe / boot size to give FareShare enough time to make sure you get a pair of boots that fit !

FareShare Greater Manchester relies on the hard work of committed volunteers who work as a team to organise and distribute our food supplies. We work with the community to help the community. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds, many who have had to deal with the same kind of hardships faced by the people who our community partners provide food for.
