Manchester Declares a Climate Emergency!

On Wednesday 10th July, Manchester City Council are due to vote on a motion to declare a Climate Emergency.

The meeting runs from 10am-12pm and the item will heard at some point in that agenda.
Please come along to this historic occasion to let councillors know you want them to pass the motion – and support them when they do.

Gather at 9.30 outside to show support and then attend the meeting in the public gallery.
Bring banners, flowers and supportive songs! 🍃🌸🎉

Background info:

Declaring a Climate Emergency is one of XR’s key three demands (because we can’t begin to tackle the crisis until the authorities acknowledge the scale of it).

The UK Parliament (but not the government) and the Welsh Assembly have declared along with scores of others towns and cities across the UK.

Campaign groups have been calling for Manchester to join Trafford in declaring an emergency (and the University Of Manchester did so just this week).
