Manchester Friends of the Earth open meeting – How green is your sandwich?

At this month’s open meeting, we will be exploring what impact our food has on the environment and what we can do to eat more sustainably.

We’ll be joined by Dr Laurence Stamford, who will tell us about his research into the carbon footprint of the UK’s favourite sandwiches.

An all-day breakfast sandwich, such as this one from Pret a Manger, may be delicious but has a higher carbon footprint than other options. Photograph: Linda Nylind for the Guardian

We will also welcome Lucy Danger, Managing Director of FareShare NW who will be talking to us about waste food in Manchester and the new food network – Good Food Greater Manchester.

You are welcome to bring along your favourite low- carbon recipes to share and to sample some delicious, low-carbon food.

If you would like to contribute to the catering please let us know! All welcome!
