Manchester Peace Trail! Public (hosted by DED_ucation)
A guided walk around Manchester city, visiting historical monuments of peace and social justice.
The walk will cover:
– John Dalton, 5 steps on the nuclear time-line, MAG and the Nobel Peace Prize
– Lincoln, Gandhi, the campaign against slavery
– Engels, poets, science and free-thinking
– The Free Trade Hall, suffragists and suffragettes to the Sex Pistols
AND MORE (from www.discoverpeace.eu)!
Meet outside Manchester Central Library, St Peter’s Square at 13:15 for a 13:30 start. The walk will finish about 15:00 when we will head to Common for a discussion and introduction to The People’s Plan for Divestment research project.
Money raised will go towards dED led community research project ‘The People’s Plan for Divestment’ which aims to address how divesting from the arms trade and fossil fuels would affect The University of Manchester.
This Peace Trail will take place on Armed Forces Day, so even more reason to come and see just how much Manchester has help to drive peace and social justice!
