Manchester to Chorlton Cycle Way engagement event

The Manchester to Chorlton Walking and Cycleway scheme is part of our commitment to make transport across the city healthier and cleaner. Read about the consultation and results

We’re doing this by improving our connections across the city to support long-term, sustainable economic growth and access to opportunities for all. This ties in with the Greater Manchester 2040 transport strategy

Area 1a – Chorlton Road, from Chester Road to Upper Chorlton Road

In the coming weeks, work will start on area 1a of the Chorlton cycleway. This section will run from the Chester Road roundabout, up to Stretford Road and will mainly consist of segregated cycle lanes. It will also introduce the first of the new, modern cycling and pedestrian friendly junctions of the scheme and utilise the existing cycleway along this route.

Download detailed plans for this section of the scheme

We’re expecting this work to take around three months and during this time, there will be traffic management, lane closures and diversions in place. We will give more details on these as the project progresses.
