Neighbourhood roam – Prestwich (hosted by WalkRide Prestwich & Whitefield)

Our neighbourhood roams are walking workshops where we discuss and assess how our streets can be made more pleasant for people and less cluttered with cars. We take a critical look at issues such as:

  • How easy is it to cross the road at various key points along our route?
  • How does it feel to be a pedestrian in the various types of street we will visit?
  • How easily accessible are public transport links, schools, healthcare facilities etc. to people without cars?
  • Is safe, comfortable cycling catered for?
  • Are pavements free of clutter, cars and other obstructions?
  • Etc.

The Prestwich roam starts at Prestwich tram stop and proceeds to Bury New Road, up through Heys & Heywood Roads to the Old Road and ends at Heaton Park tram stop. The approximate duration is one hour.

The roam will be led by Nick Hubble of WalkRide Prestwich & Whitefield.
