North West Anti-Fracking Network meeting (Ellesmere Port)
Friends of the Earth are organising a North West fracking network meeting in the New Year.
It’s in Ellesmere Port on Saturday 12 January 10.30am – 1pm followed by lunch and a solidarity photocall in the town centre to show support from across the region to the community campaigning against IGas shale gas testing locally.
There would also be an opportunity to visit the site (which was drilled in 2014) afterwards for anyone interested. The timing is ahead of the opening of an inquiry about the site (on the 15th Jan) – IGas were refused permission for shale gas testing thanks to an amazing community campaign earlier this year, but have appealed.
The aims of the meeting are to provide:
- Opportunity for groups to share info and updates on their groups and local fracking sites in the North West
- Opportunities for collaborations and support from other groups across the region
- Potential for short skillshares or focused discussion on one topic
- And anything else you would like to use the time for? – please just let us know!
Please contact: Helen Rimmer if you would like to attend or have any questions / suggestions. Email: helen.rimmer@foe.co.uk
Venue: Trinity Methodist Church (tbc), Ellesmere Port town centre
Please note: There is the possibility there may still be rail strikes in the new year so we may have to help organise car sharing if you would be using Northern Rail. If coming from Lancs / Manchester travel via Liverpool to catch Merseyrail may be quicker.
