Northern Gateway consultation – Drop in Sessions (Manchester City Council)

See below for details of the Northern Gateway consultation and drop-sessions – deadline for consultation responses is 1st October 2018.

What its about: The Council would welcome your views on initial proposals that will help shape the future of the ‘Northern Gateway’ – areas north of the city centre earmarked for major improvement and development in coming years.

We’re looking for the views of anyone who may be affected or who wants to comment on this initial guide to the redevelopment – called a ‘Strategic Regeneration Framework’ (SRF).

We’ll use your comments and views to create a report to the Council later in the year.

Summary:  Our vision is to deliver a series of vibrant, sustainable and integrated residential neighbourhoods within the extended city centre of Manchester. It will provide a mix of housing options in a high quality, well managed environment, with high levels of connectivity that link the growth of the city centre with surrounding communities. It will also include affordable housing to make sure residents on a range of incomes can live in the area.

We will work together with the Far East Consortium International Limited (FEC) on a joint venture basis to deliver the regeneration of this area.

Our vision, core objectives, and development framework can be found in the draft Northern Gateway strategic regeneration framework (SRF). This document establishes the key principles that will guide development activity over the next 15 to 20 years. We want your thoughts on this and how you want to see this area develop.

The SRF area covers approximately 155 hectares to the north of Manchester city centre between Victoria Station, NOMA and the Northern Quarter in the southwest, and Queens Park and the intermediate Ring Road (Queens Road) to the north-east.

Read the full draft framework and a shorter executive summary (external site) before telling us what you think.
