Nuclear Weapons Ban Treaty lobby training day
We are excited to announce that we have teamed up with our allies at Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) UK to host a Lobby Training Day in relation to the U.N Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).
The TPNW is a ground-breaking document which places obligations and prohibitions on ratifying states, making nuclear disarmament and eventual peace real possibilities.
Following the incredible success of a recent training day in London, this event will consist of information sessions where you can learn more about the specifics of the Treaty and its role in the UK context. Furthermore, we will also be hosting training workshops to build communications skills and lobbying methods, so that participants can feel confident in lobbying their MPs to sign the ICAN Parliamentary Pledge and commit to facilitating the UK in becoming the first nuclear weapon country to sign.
We will have a range of influential speakers and trainers, including Janet Fenton (International Campaigner & Vice Chair for Scottish CND) and Sean Morris (Principal Policy and Research Officer at Manchester City Council & Secretary for Nuclear Free Local Authorities).
This event is free to attend. Lunch will be provided by the wonderful non-profit Real Food Junk Yard and any donations made on the day will go directly to them.
To register your attendance, please RSVP by emailing gmdcnd@gn.apc.org
