Ocean Experience Exhibition: Manchester Greenpeace

Healthy oceans are crucial to tackling climate change, yet they are increasingly under threat from overfishing, pollution, proposals for deep sea mining and global warming. They need urgent protection, something that can be achieved by declaring 30% of the oceans as ‘sanctuaries’ by 2030.

Earlier this year Greenpeace launched a year-long campaign to secure a strong Global Oceans Treaty at the UN. This is a real opportunity for governments to work together to protect marine life, ensure food security for millions of people and create healthy oceans that are our best ally against a changing climate.

There are just a few months left before the final round of UN negotiations in New York (March 2020) and the UK government can be at the forefront of demanding a strong global treaty by sending a high-ranking minister to attend.

Leading up to these final talks, Manchester Greenpeace will be hosting an art exhibition to highlight the beauty and wonder of our oceans. The exhibition is open to the public and consists of 8 stunning A2 sized photographs taken from oceans and seas around the world, emphasising just how magical the underwater environment is and why we need to protect it. You can also immerse yourself within the oceans via an interactive 3D video.

It is vital we preserve healthy oceans and we can only do this with a robust Global Ocean Treaty. Come and join Manchester Greenpeace at the exhibition to show your support and help us secure ocean sanctuaries across the globe.
