Photogratree Competition #foemcrtree (Closes at midnight on 20th June)

Calling all budding nature photographers!

Trees are one of our biggest natural allies in the fight against climate change. They clean the air and water, improve soil health and provide homes to thousands of species.

Now spring is in the air – and with it blossom, birdsong, catkins and the green leaves of new growth – join us and let’s celebrate the trees in our lives!

It could be a tree in your garden that birds like to visit, a tree you can see from your window or a quiet street tree, a landmark tree with an interesting history, a tree you’ve planted, a special tree in the woods or simply a tree or treescape that you think looks awesome… which you see on your daily exercise walk or cycle ride during the #COVID19 physical distancing and stay home period.

Whatever the tree and whatever the story – let us know! Get creative with your camera and send us a photo to:

Facebook – post your photo here in our Photogratree event page.
Instagram – tag your photo @foemanchester and use the hashtag #foemcrtree
Twitter – tag your photo @foemcr and use the hashtag #foemcrtree
Email – send your photo to office@manchesterfoe.org.uk

If you’d like to share a brief description, location or identification (the iNaturalist or Woodland Trust Tree Identification apps are particularly useful) then please feel free to do so.

📸***Competition Open!***📸
🌳Send us your photos!🌳
The competition closes at midnight 20.06.20

Judges to be announced soon.

Winner will receive a tree themed goody box – packed with tree related tools and treats.

The UK has legislated for net-zero emissions by 2050. Trees are important for the sequestering of carbon and the UK Committee on Climate Change has called for three billion to be planted over the next thirty years.

Friends of the Earth is campaigning nationally to double tree cover across the UK. Manchester Friends of the Earth are now planning to work across Greater Manchester to increase awareness, advocacy and public engagement in practical action to help support this cause.

To learn more or to find out how you can help in our tree campaign check out our page and events calendar.

*Coronavirus (COVID-19) Guidelines: please adhere to government guidelines in regards to social distancing and isolation if you are experiencing any symptoms or in a vulnerable group.*
