Station South Mini Tours (Heritage Open Days)
Station South welcomes you to don your hard hats and take a sneaky peak of the inside of the Levenshulme Station South building, the surrounding area and talk to the team at Station South CIC about the ongoing restoration and our progress to date.
Levenshulme Station South (the original Levenshulme Station!) was built in 1892 and served the public on their travels to and from Manchester Central and Guide Bridge. The building sits atop of the 7 mile Fallowfield Loop line which closed to the public in 1958, closing completely in 1965. The rail track is now a cycleway and wildlife corridor.
The station building has since had many uses including a TV repair shop and a very brief history as a cash n carry but has fallen into disrepair in recent times. However there are still some real heritage reveals inside!
Station South CIC are on a mission to turn the old Levenshulme South Station building into a destination cycle cafe, bar, co-working and green space that restores and celebrates the building and its heritage and realigns its purpose as a modern active travel hub for all.
Come and see the building, learn about its past and the plans for its future.
N.B: safety apparel will be provided and must be worn to enter site.
There are 3 tours on Saturday 8th September @ 11am, 12noon and 1pm and last approx 45 minutes.
Places are limited and must be booked via Eventbrite.
