Summit in the Orchard – Greater Manchester (hosted by The Orchard Project and Platt Fields Volunteer Sunday)

event on
14 September

Join us for a day of networking, talks, workshops and loads more. If you’re interested in finding out about community orchards, orchard culture and events in Greater Manchester or are part of a community orchard group from near or far we’ve crafted this event just for you!
Bringing together local experts in their field… or more importantly orchard, we’ll cover everything from simple orchard signage with Kyle Rojahn (Extinction Rebellion) to using your orchard for your own or the general public’s wellbeing with Claire Morris (Wide Awake Mindfulness). Dick Withcombe (Manchester Cider Club) will guide us through some cider tasting for those that like a tipple. The nice team at Fruits of the Forage will be creating something tasty for us to try and Ian Mayer (Holly Mount orchard) will share his wealth of experience in rewilding in orchard spaces. Then we’ve got our own in house team at The Orchard Project so perhaps you’d like to arrive early for some easy Yoga with Millie Frost, Ella Hashimi will lead on group dynamics and Dan Hasler will guide you through the fundraising process for your groups as well as guided tour through the newly restored Shakespearean Garden which we’re in the process of restoring.

In the morning we’ll have a chance for some networking over a late breakfast, our guest speakers will then share a 15-20 minute talk on their chosen favourite community orchard topic. We’ll break for a picnic lunch – please bring this with you or there are shops nearby – then in the afternoon you’ll have a chance to sign up for your chosen workshop sessions.

It’s sure to be a great day and will continue to build the orchard movement in Greater Manchester and beyond.
