The Big Active Conversation (GM Moving and TfGM)
Working together towards our Greater Manchester walking and cycling ambitions
This is the first of a new series of quarterly stakeholder gatherings, hosted by TfGM and GM Moving partners. The gatherings bring people and partners across Greater Manchester together to share and explore progress, stories, challenges and expertise as we work together to make Greater Manchester a better place for everyone to walk and cycle.
Speakers to include: Andy Burnham (Mayor of Greater Manchester), Chris Boardman (Greater Manchester’s Commissioner for Walking and Cycling), Dr Richard Nickson (Director for Walking and Cycling, TfGM), Eve Holt (Strategic Director GM Moving and GreaterSport), Beth Sutcliffe (Strategic Director GM Walking and GreaterSport).
The focus for this virtual conversation is on widening access and participation in walking, cycling and active travel, and growing our collective advocacy and action to support our shared GM walking and cycling ambitions. Breakout groups will be exploring the multiple barriers to access and participation and how we best address these in GM, for example: for disabled people; younger and older population; women and girls; LGBTQ+ community; Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups; people living in poverty and on low incomes.
As part of the process of setting up quarterly meetings with Greater Manchester active travel stakeholders, we are creating a mailing list to keep you updated on active travel developments and to invite you to future meetings. We therefore ask you to sign up to this list, even if you are unable to attend on 15th March. Joining instructions for the meeting, including the agenda, video conferencing link and options for breakout groups, will be sent out to all those registered a week before the meeting.
To sign up to the mailing list, and to register for the meeting on 15th March, please register via Eventbrite.
