The End of Growth? Why our Covid-19 recovery shouldn’t prioritise GDP growth (Positive Money)
This webinar will present Positive Money’s latest report “The Tragedy of Growth” featuring a panel discussion and Q&A session.
As the Covid-19 crisis takes its toll on GDP figures, we must avoid returning to a policymaking paradigm that promotes economic growth above all else. Instead, we need new measures of progress and a transformation of our economic system in favour of social and environmental wellbeing. If we can identify and overcome growth-dependent structures in our economy, an end to GDP growth would benefit both people and planet. This discussion will present Positive Money’s new report, ‘The Tragedy of Growth ’ and bring together a cross party panel to discuss different aspects of shifting policy making and economic structures for a post-growth economy
The panel discussion will feature a presentation by Positive Money Economist and author of the report David Barmes, followed by a response from the panel and audience Q&A.
