The Meteor: Company Investigations Workshop

event on
5 December
2019

Learn how to uncover and report the information private companies would rather keep hidden from the public.

Do you suspect an outsourcing firm is providing a sub-standard service and offering poor value for money? Is there a property developer or landlord you suspect of unscrupulous business practices? Are you suspicious of a weapons factory you suspect is selling arms to a human rights abusing country?

The Meteor’s Company Investigations Workshop will show you the techniques and tools needed to uncover information on whichever company you wish to investigate, whatever the reason is.

To instruct you on how to investigate companies and cast light on their possibly nefarious activities we have Peter Murray, former president of the National Union of Journalists and current lecturer in Journalism at Manchester Metropolitan University. We received excellent feedback when Peter gave this Meteor workshop last year, which is why we are running it again this year.

We are asking for a small charge of £5 to sign up for this workshop to partially cover the costs of running it. We will return that money at the workshop to anyone who has signed up as a member of The Meteor media co-op. You can become a member of the co-op for as little as £1/month and help us democratise the media in Manchester. You can sign up to become a member of The Meteor media co-op here.

If you cannot afford to pay the charge for the workshop, please let us know as we can offer a limited number of places free , email: editor@themeteor.org

Refreshments will be provided at this event.
