The North West Bus Debate (TravelWatch NorthWest Conference )

The NorthWest Bus debate, is the next  conference of TravelWatch NorthWest (TWNW) which is devoted exclusively to bus matters at a time when the structure of bus service provision is being debated.

Speakers are planned to include  –

  • David Sidebottom, Director, Transport Focus
  • Pascale Robinson, Better Buses for Greater Manchester
  • Gary Nolan, Chief Executive, OneBus
  • Tony Francis, formerly with the DfT on the London model
  • Jim Davies, Lancaster Bus Users
  • Mark Stone, the Equality and Human Rights Commission
  • Speakers from Transport for Greater Manchester, Salford Disability Forum and Manchester Community Transport

There will be plenty of opportunity for delegates to contribute in panel Q&A discussion at the end of the morning and afternoon sessions.

Representatives from the Equality and Human Rights Commission will also  be available to offer advice on the day and will be running a lunchtime fringe event with one of their solicitors Mark Stone, an expert lawyer, who will  be available to provide advice/information to users and their representatives about the Commission’s services.

When: It will be held on Thursday 17th October 2019, from 10.30 hrs to about 16.30 and will include a buffet lunch. Refreshments will be served from 10.00 hrs. We are grateful for the kind support of the Bus Industry in the North West for this conference.

Where: the Hall, the Mechanics Centre, 103 Princess Street, Manchester M1 6DD. Please use the Major Street entrance.

TWNW, is an independent body, represents users of all forms of public transport in the North West. As well as users, we encourage representatives of transport procurers and operators to attend our conferences.

Whilst we want to continue to offer these events at no charge, we hope that delegates will make a voluntary donation to help to cover our wider costs. In this respect we ask for a modest minimum contribution of £5.00 per individual.
