The World Naked Bike Ride – Manchester
Its back again now in its 13th year. Join us – as bare as you dare – for the Manchester World Naked Bike Ride on Friday 7 June 2019
The totally free annual mass ride which takes place in over 70 cities around the planet:
– highlighting the vulnerability of cyclists and our strength and safety in numbers
– protesting against fossil-fueled climate change and the dominance of our streets by cars
– celebrating bikes, bodies and low-impact living
We meet at All Saints Park on Oxford road, assembling from 6pm to set off at 7pm. The ride will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. We will ride around Manchester to show the power and freedom of bikes, bodies and people.
The ride aims to highlight the vulnerability of cyclists on the road.Even when we are fully clothed we are naked to the danger of motorists on the road. We want to live in a world not blighted by traffic pollution where the car is seen as the go to form of transport. Most of all we are here to celebrate people, who come in all shapes and sizes and are beautiful as they are.
Last year we got over 400 people and had a cracking ride around the city showing what true freedom looks like. For more info about the event check out our WNBR Wiki page.
While we welcome photography at the start of the ride. We would ask anyone who wants to photograph riders make contact with WNBR Manchester Organisers before the event. Due to certain individuals not respecting riders’ we will ask all non approved members of the public to keep out of the starting area. If you do want to take photos in whatever form please be respectful of those you photograph, and where possible to ask for people’s consent before taking photographs. We will provide a protected area for undressing and preparation, away from intrusive and unwelcome photographers. If you haven’t asked for permission or are not participating in the ride you will have to find a spot outside of this area.
This ride is one of many around the UK and worldwide happening during June, including Bristol, London, Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton, Canterbury and York
