Transport Planning Camp (hosted by Transport Planning Collective)

Transport Planning Camp is an annual unconference for anyone interested in transport, livable places, justice, and sustainability.

Transport Planning Camp is an unconference that will bring together transport planners, engineers, technologists, social scientists, and others interested in the intersection of transport, technology, and urbanism. It is taking place on 7th November 2019 in Manchester.

Building on the success of the very first camp last year, this year we are organising the camp based on the theme of Transport Planning and the Climate Emergency. The unconference will build connections between policy makers, engineers, innovators, and activists. Enabling them to explore the opportunities and risks the future may hold.

Book your ticket (£10 including lunch) via Eventbrite

This event is being enabled by Mobility Lab, and is being kindly supported by Transport for Greater Manchester. But all of the work is being done my a committed group of volunteers. This includes an organising committee of Pawel Bugajski (Arup), Laura Putt (Transport for London), Anna Rothnie (Independent Consultant), Kit Allwinter (Transport for Greater Manchester), and Rachael Brydges and James Gleave (Mobility Lab).

What is Transport Planning Camp?

It is a now annual unconference for anyone interested in transport and its impacts on our world. An unconference is a loosely structured event that prioritising exhange of ideas and talking to each other, rathar than being talked at all day.

The way it works is that the participants pitch their ideas for sessions at the beginning of the day. These are voted on, and an agenda is created. You then attend the sessions that you want to attend. You don’t even have to attend the one that you suggested.

If you want an idea of how it works, check out our write up of the first Transport Planning Camp in Leeds in 2018. You can also check out our guide to running your own Transport Planning Camp.
