Barclays are holding their AGM on 7 May and you are cordially invited to the alternative, much more fun, Divest Barclays webinar and digital rally hosted by People & Planet! Speakers include economist Ann Pettifor, climate guru Adrienne Buller, and Kayah George of the Tulalip and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.

Barclays finances fossil fuel projects more than any other European bank, funding global warming, human rights abuses, the destruction of major ecosystems, displacement of populations, and climate colonialism. They are attempting some classic corporate greenwash by making pitifully weak commitments to go ‘net zero’ by 2050. That’s far too little, far too late.

We’ll be exposing this fossil fuelled disaster and laying out a better, greener future with talks by:

Ann Pettifor, author of ‘The Case for a Green New Deal’ (2019). Ann is a renowned economist who has written extensively of the links between finance, the economy and the ecosystem, and is a key figure behind the ‘Green New Deal’ movement.

Kayah George ‘Halth-Leah’ (she/her) proudly carries the teachings of her Tulalip and Tsleil-Waututh Nations which have inspired her to become a young Indigenous and environmental leader, scholar, and activist. She has talked globally about climate justice and spread the teachings of her nations to honor and care for the earth while being a full time student at Simon Fraser University.

Adrienne Buller, a Senior Research Fellow at the think-tank Common Wealth and former Project Lead at InfluenceMap. Adrienne’s work analyses the intersections between climate change and finance. She will speak on the state of the oil and gas sector, bailouts, banks and BlackRock.

This will be followed by a Q&A, before an online mini-rally where you can hear from organisers about the movement against fossil fuel financing banks and how you.
