World Cleanup Day – Manchester (hosted by Manchester Greenpeace and Manchester Friends of the Earth)
World Cleanup Day is on Saturday 21st September this year – and Manchester Greenpeace will be out and about removing litter and polluting plastics from local waterways.
Where we go will depend on where the rubbish is, as well as what waterborne transport we can arrange, but we will meet at the entrance to the People’s History Museum and then clean up part of the Medlock. The Medlock is a tributary of the Mersey, which a Greenpeace survey earlier this year revealed had proportionally as much plastic in in as the great pacific garbage patch.
We will supply bags and gloves, but the more equipment you could bring with you yourselves the better.
If we get time we might also have a look at the Peterloo Exhibition in the museum.
