Households across south should prepare for fracking, says Minister – Friends of the Earth reaction

news release

Reacting to comments by Energy Minister Michael Fallon on Saturday, 9 November 2013, that households “right across the South” should prepare for fracking to begin in their areas, Brenda Pollack, South East Campaigner, Friends of the Earth said:

“Despite all the Government hype, people across the South have made it perfectly clear that they are opposed to fracking.

“Shale gas is not the solution to our energy problems – it’s dirty, a threat to local communities and experts warn it won’t lead to cheaper fuel bills.

“We need a clean, safe and affordable energy system, based on cutting energy waste and developing Britain’s abundant renewable power potential.”
