The Big Green Week: Nature

Improving our green and blue spaces not only helps us address climate change and biodiversity loss but can be great for our mental and physical health.

Our own homes are a good place to start. Can our gardens and balconies be more inviting to pollinators and other creatures? See our top tips here for more ideas.

Thinking about our neighbourhood. Could more trees be planted in our local streets or parks ? If so the council will be able to be support with this. Perhaps litter is an issue. Arranging regular litter picks can be a good way to clean up the area and ensure that plastics and other contaminates don’t make it into our waterways and oceans.

If you have little more time, you could consider volunteering with local nature groups supporting parks and nature reserves. Within Greater Manchester City of Trees and the Lancashire Wildlife Trust have opportunities for getting involved in practical conservation.
