The government promised to take action on landlords who were provided poor quality housing for tenants. Chris Huhne pledged to act only last month – but today the goverment announced plans which are completely inadequate:
- They won’t start until 2018
- There’s no clear minimum standard of energy efficiency and it won’t rise over time
- They don’t apply to lettings agents
- There’s no protection against eviction for tenants who ask for their home to be improved
Even Cameron’s own council has demanded action to be taken to improve this, so our voices are really being heard – but the government is trying to ignore us. But if we keep pushing this issue we will win. So please take our new action online to demand this is improved: take action on Warm Homes
